For many of us, the hardest part of attending a sexuality focused event, is getting ourselves through the front door!
Nervousness is high.
We wonder how we will be welcomed.
Will anyone talk to us.
How will we work out what to do, where to go and who to be with?
It feels like a mine field!
Most of our facilitators, volunteers and participants, have had to meet this edge at some point or another.
There are many times when I have felt uncertain, watched from the sidelines and resisted taking that first step.
Times I have gotten to the door of a workshop or event and nearly turned around!
Times when I have asked my accompanying friends to remind me why the hell we are doing this thing anyway!
We know this is true for pretty much everyone
coming to FEAST for the first, second or third time…
That is why we take so much time and care to support you to land, settle in and begin FEAST with gentleness and ease.
So, what happens when you first arrive at FEAST?
Firstly, you will be greeted in the driveway
by a warm and welcoming team of volunteers.
They have all your registration details and
will direct you to your accommodation of choice.
There are people to guide you to car parks, unload your gear
and introduce you to others.
Our team show you to camp sites and dorm rooms,
help you settle into lodge rooms and find your bell tent.
There is tea to drink, a fire to gather around and people gradually arriving.
There is a creek to visit, lounges to sit in and elders to chat to.
Newness, excitement and anticipation are in the air.
Once the sun sets behind the incredible mountains,
our opening ceremony begins.
We are welcomed to Country and reverence abounds.
We kick off our shoes, move our bodies and feel the joy of simply
coming together with like minded humans - all on a journey of
curiosity and discovery.
We eat delicious food in our small support pod groups and find our way to sleep.
It never ceases to delight us as we witness
each person being lovingly welcomed and woven in to the
fabric of our shared care and community.
Whether this is your first or fourth FEAST, we look forward to welcoming you as arrive at the gate and we begin our incredible journey together.
